Dibrugarh is the “Camellia” town of Assam, an undisturbed haven, with its endless stretches of tea gardens. At Dibrugarh you will stay at the Mancotta Chang Bungalow located 12 km from the town. This 140 years Heritage Chang Bungalow built by pioneering Scottish tea planters offers a unique experience of the traditional plantation life.
Undertake a boat cruise to Majuli Island. It is the world’s largest inhabited riverine island. It is also the focal point of Vaishanava culture. Majuli is renowned for its important satras (Vaishanava monasteries).
Your Journey takes you to Kaziranga National Park. You embark on a pre-dawn elephant ride to Kaziranga’s Central Range, the best way to get really close to the Rhino & other animals. In the evening you once again get the opportunity to drive into the Park to see the great Indian one horned rhinoceros for whose protection the Park was established in 1908,
Drive to Tezpur – the gateway town to the Arunachal hills. . The name Tezpur signifies 'City of Blood'. Baan Raja, the king of the Asuras, ruled at one time Tezpur.
From Tezpur you drive to Bomdila. There are a couple of Gompas here and the craft center has a delightful range of handmade woven carpets, woven by the local Monpa tribe. This is also home to the gentle Sherdukpen tribes. Your journey continues to Tawang in a dramatic drive through mesmeric alpine country.
Culminate your tour in Guwahati – “The Light of the East” & the gateway to Assam. Straddling the banks of the Brahmaputra, this former capitol of the Kamrup kings (when it was ancient Pragiyotishpur) is a busy river town & a major commercial hob for the region.
You will be assisted on arrival and transferred to your hotel. Later during the day you may proceed for a city tour of Delhi. Some of them which could cherish your mind with the beauty of places are Red fort, India Gate, Jama Masjid. In these places you can see the old architectural beauty liked by the old majesties.
In the morning you will be transferred in time to board you flight for Dibrugarh. Dibrugarh is the “Camellia” town of Assam, an undisturbed haven, with its endless stretches of tea gardens. You will arrive by late afternoon. In the early evening you will be taken on a tea tour – learn about tea: its origin, how it is grown & also have the experience of the fine art of tea tasting.
After breakfast you take a drive for about an hour & a half to visit Tai-Phake village that is 60 km away. Tai-Phake Village is an ethnic village situated near the River Buri-Dihing.
After an early breakfast you drive to Jorhat from where you will undertake a boat cruise to Majuli Island. It is the world’s largest inhabited riverine island.
Today you drive to Kaziranga National Park. On arrival you check into a Wildlife Resort. Later in the afternoon you will drive to Kaziranga's Western Range for a jeep safari & to scan the wilderness from an observation tower.
You embark on a pre-dawn elephant ride to Kaziranga’s Central Range, the best way to get really close to the Rhino & other animals. After breakfast at the lodge, you take a walk through a terraced tea garden & past a Karbi tribal villag then drive to a Mising tribal village, with their distinctive house raised on piles.
From Kaziranga National Park, you drive to Tezpur – the gateway town to the Arunachal hills. . The name Tezpur signifies 'City of Blood'.
From Tezpur you drive to Bomdila. There are a couple of Gompas here and the craft center has a delightful range of handmade woven carpets, woven by the local Monpa tribe. This is also home to the gentle Sherdukpen tribes. You would be reaching Bomdila by late evening.
Your journey continues to Tawang in a dramatic drive through mesmeric alpine country. The sinuous road to Tawang passes through the dragon gates on the awesome height of the great Sela Pass (4,156 m / 13,714 ft). The Stupa-like Tawang War Memorial also salutes the heroes of the war.
There is a strong Tibetan presence in Tawang. Prayer flags flutter in the breeze. Monks in their soft robes slip silently through the market square attending their daily chores. There are 500 of them attached to the great Tawang Monastery on its dramatic perch on the spur, a short distance from the main town.
Today you drive back to Bomdilla to proceed to other destinations in Arunachal. While driving back do visit the Handicrafts Centre where you may pick up an exquisitely designed carpet at a good price.
After an early breakfast you depart on the drive back to Bomdila, over the Sela Pass again. Stop perhaps at Sange, and on to Dirang before arriving at Bomdila.
Today you continue your drive to Tezpur. En route, after 17 km, in Rupa, perhaps visit the Gompa and Guru Rinpoche cave. Cross the Assam border at Bhakukpong and on to Tezpur.
Today you drive to Guwahati – “The Light of the East” & the gateway to Assam. Surrounded by paddy fields & ancient rain forest, Guwahati is home to many temples that date back to Vedic & Puranic times.
The Kamakhaya Temple dominates the life of Guwahati, as much as does the great Brahmaputra River
The morning is at leisure at Guwahati. Later in the day you will be transferred in time to board you flight for Delhi. On arrival at Delhi you will be received and transferred for your onward destination.
