The Garwhal Himalaya is one of the most unspoilt regions in the state of Uttaranchal. Here we find some of the holiest sites as the Ganges emanates from this area which attracts religious pilgrims all year round. Forested foothills majestically rise upward to beautiful bugyals (high altitude meadows) carpeted with wild flowers. Beyond, the views extended to the Himalayan peaks from which glaciers descend, carving deep valleys as they make their way down to the lowlands.
You will be assisted on arrival and proceed to a unique destination – Kuchesar Mud Fort. The heritage resort of Kuchesar offers you 18th century lifestyle with a modern touch. This Heritage Hotel has been known for its hospitality since decades.
After an early breakfast you will drive to Corbett National Park. Corbett National Park is India’s first and finest National Park. After lunch you leave for a guided nature walk accompanied with a naturalist, who unveils for you the wonders of the earth.
After an early wakeup call & cup of tea / coffee, you proceed for an elephant ride with your guide for tiger tracking and bird watching. After lunch, you drive to Bijrani tourism zone. Jeep safaris will be through jungles for a Corbett wildlife adventure.
From Corbett National Park you head in to the Kumaon hills past Ranikhetto Almora. In the afternoon start an easy walk to Chittai. Late in the evening you have the option to take a downtown stroll to the bazaar that extends from Paltan Bazaar to Narayan Tewari Dewal, running almost parallel to the motor road & full of lane & by-lanes. The Nanda Devi Temple is approached through Lala Bazaar.
After breakfast, drive to Binsar and Walk up to Zero Point through dense oak and rhododendron forests. Enjoy the view and hike downhill upto the Shiva temple. Trek further downhill and then follow the western Binsar ridge towards Kangarchina. This is a very scenic walk with good views of the Himalayas on one side and terraced valley on the other. .
Day 06 : Excursion to Jageshwar (1,870m / 6,171 ft) – drive to Kausani (1,890 m / 6,237 ft) – 50 km - approx 1 ½ hrs
In the morning you drive to Jageshwar, which is located in a serene narrow valley surrounded by magnificent Deodar Trees. It is famous for the 124 ornamented temples & hundreds of statues built by the Chand Rajas. A 3 km walk from Jageshwar leads to VriddhaJageshwar. This is regarded as the abode of Lord Shiva prior to his manifesting himself at Jageshwar..
After a late breakfast you drive to Kausani. Nestling amongst thick, dense pine forests, a top a narrow ridge and separated from the towering mountains of the Nanda Devi range by low, medium mountains; at Kausani the grandeur of the Himalayan scenery comes alive.
In the afternoon you visit Anashakti Ashram. Mahatma Gandhi stayed here. Also visit the Kumaon Shawl Emporium.
Continue your drive to Rudraprayag named after the Lord Shiva (Rudra), the entire region of Rudraprayag is blessed with immense natural beauty, lakes and glaciers, as well as important Hindu temples.
En-route you will stop on the road head and walk down to Devprayag -situated at the confluence of the Alaknanda and the Bhagirathi rivers, to visit a Ram temple. You have the option of an exciting enroute rafting run down the River Ganga and run some veryexciting rapid’s or enroute walk to Malakunthi Village to visit the local cave temple and look at stalagmites and stalactites.
After breakfast drive for about an hour to the Kunjapuri temple, our starting point for the trek. Later in the evening a tour of downtown Rishikesh,it is a great pilgrimage centre of India became famous by Beatles who stayed here in an ashram for 3 months. Also witness the Arti at the Parmath Ashram before leaving back to your hotel for diner and overnight stay.
Your sojourn in Uttarakhand driving through the Kumaon hills ends with a drive back to Delhi from Rishikesh. Enroute stop at Hardiwar, said to be one of the oldest cities, Haridwars existence dates back to as early as the days of Buddha.
In time you will be transferred to the International Airport for your flight back home.
